چکیده
This work studied flame spread over polyethylene (PE)-insulated wires at high pressure with an emphasis on the effect of ambient pressure. Laboratory simulated were used as a tested wire, which consisted semi-transparent low-density PE (LDPE) tube insulation and copper (Cu) rod or stainless-steel (SS) core. Increasing produced much soot, leading to intensively yellow luminous flame. Flame rate for Cu increased pressure, whereas that SS decreased. A qualitative analysis via simplified model shows heat flux increases but consequently heating decreases due decreased length. Therefore, increasing For rod, however, core is dominant enough compensate heating, thus positively affected spread. During spread, melted insulations often dripped down, it reduced no dripping occurred when further indicates there limit high-pressure region. These findings should contribute electrical fire safety in elevated environments.

Ion release and cytotoxicity of stainless steel wires.
Heat treatment is generally applied to orthodontic stainless steel (SS) wires to relieve the stresses that result from their manipulation by orthodontists. The quality and thickness of the oxide films formed on the surface of heat-treated wires can vary, and it is believed that these oxide films can influence the properties of heat-treated wires. The aim of this study was to investigate the inf...

This study evaluated the effect of heat treatment on CrNi stainless steel orthodontic archwires. Half of forty archwires of each thickness - 0.014" (0.35 mm), 0.016" (0.40 mm), 0.018" (0.45 mm) and 0.020" (0.50 mm) (totalling 160 archwires) - were subjected to heat treatment while the remainder were not. All of the archwires had their individual thickness measured in the anterior and posterior ...
